Baroque ensemble to perform Feb. 22

Feb 13th, 2020

The Amethyst Baroque Ensemble will perform 7:30 p.m., February 22 in the Piedmont College Chapel. The concert is free and open to the public.

The four-member ensemble will perform works by Thomas Campion, George Bingham, Frideric Handel, Thomas Mace, and others. Ensemble musicians are Dr. Alexander Snyder Dunbar, Jody Miller, Marcy Brenner, and Adrin Akins.

The musicians will perform a variety of instruments including the Baroque and Classical violin, recorder, harpsicord, and cello, which were instruments played in the time of Bach, Handel, and Mozart. The ensemble is based in Athens and Atlanta and perform regularly throughout the state.

The Chapel, adjacent to the Conservatory of Music, is located at 922 Central Avenue in Demorest. More than 200 students – about 15 percent of the college’s undergraduate population – participate in music academic programs, ensembles, and performances. The Conservatory of Music is an All-Steinway School.
