Piedmont Singers present “The Hope of Loving” concert
The Piedmont Singers’ Spring concert, titled “The Hope of Loving,” will be held 7:30 p.m., March 7 in the Piedmont College Chapel.
The concert is free, open to the public, and will explore various aspects of love. It will include works by Josu Elberdin, Thomas Tallis, Will Todd, Jake Runestad, William Walton, Johannes Brahms, Vaclovas Augustinas, Rene Clausen, Doris Nelson, and Moses Hogan.
Dr. John Coble, organist and director of music at First Presbyterian Church in Athens, will perform with the choir.
The highlight of the concert will be “The Hope of Loving” by Runestad, for choir, string quartet, and soloists. The soloists for the work will be Dr. Andrea Price (soprano), Chance Passmore (tenor), and Dr. John LaForge (baritone). The string players for the work will be Heather Strachan (violin), Rachael Fisher (violin), Elizabeth Jobson (viola), and Esther Morgan-Ellis (cello).
The concert is the final performance before the group embarks on a spring break tour of South Florida where the Singers will perform four times over three days.
