Bucher named Director of Facilities Management & Safety at Piedmont
Frederick Bucher, a U.S. Army veteran with more than 40 years of law enforcement and management experience, has been named Director of Facilities Management & Safety at Piedmont College.
In this role, a new position for the college, Bucher will oversee campus facilities, grounds and buildings at Demorest and Athens. He will also work with the college’s safety program and serve as Piedmont’s Title IX coordinator and risk manager.
Before joining Piedmont, Bucher served as a chief security officer for the Federal Communications Commission in Washington, D.C. A native of Humboldt, Nebraska, Bucher has also held law enforcement and management leadership positions at the Pentagon, Exxon Mobile and Akal Security, Inc., a New Mexico-based security company.
Bucher earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska and a master’s degree from Jacksonville State University. A U.S. Army Ranger and graduate of the Command and Staff College of the United States Air Force and the U.S. Army Command and Staff College, he retired from the Army in 2002 as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Bucher, who lives in Cleveland, Georgia, will begin his duties January 22.
