Piedmont Chorale to present annual ‘Lessons and Carols’ concert
Piedmont College will present its Annual Service of Lessons and Carols 7:30 p.m., Dec. 7 and 8 at the First Baptist Church of Cornelia. Admission is free, and the event is open to the public.
Due to construction of the Piedmont Music Conservatory, the annual service, one of the most beloved Christmas celebrations in the region, is temporarily relocating to the Baptist church, which is located at 325 Oak Street.
The musical celebration of Christmas will feature the 100-voice Piedmont Chorale, directed by Dr. Lauren Ringwall; the Piedmont Brass; and the North High School Choir, conducted by Gene Seese and Barbara Macko. The choirs will be accompanied by Yoonsook Song, piano and Dr. John Coble, organ.
The program will include works by Paul Tschesnokoff, John Rutter, Howard Helvey, Dan Forrest, Nancy Grundahl, as well as traditional Christmas carols with audience participation.
The liturgist for the program will be the Rev. Timothy Garvin-Leighton, Piedmont Campus Minister. Lectors will include Piedmont students, faculty, and staff members: Tim Lytle, Melissa Nabors, Jeff Bowers, Kerry Waller, Emily Pierce, Brenda Boonstra, Jeff Bruns, Matt McKinney and Bob Glass.
Those attending are encouraged to arrive early as this is a popular event and seating is limited.
