Professional Biography & Experience

Professor Dennis’ past experience in professional media includes serving as the news editor of The Walton Tribune (Monroe, Georgia), covering sports for several suburban Chicago newspapers, serving as sports information director for North Central College, hosting a nightly radio show on WPUP-FM (Bogart, Georgia), and running the Georgia Scholastic Press Association.

Dennis teaches the media writing and editing courses in the mass communications department, as well as sports communication, photojournalism and public speaking classes on the Athens campus. He also advises the Piedmont College student newspaper, The Roar, and the Yonahian yearbook. Dennis is also the public address announcer for the University of Georgia Ice Dogs club hockey team, a coach for Athens Little League and a Sunday School teacher at Oconee Street United Methodist Church.

He is a member of the Association for Educators in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC), the College Media Association (CMA) and is an executive board member for the Southern Interscholastic Press Association (SIPA).
