Predict the Financial Future.
Have you ever wondered how insurance companies calculate the financial risks and rewards that coincide with their plans? That’s precisely what actuarial science is. Luckily, it’s a growing and lucrative field that provides prospective professionals with a healthy and balanced lifestyle. This field has one of the highest projected growth rates of any other career paths, with an 24% expected boom over the next few years.
Actuarial science is consistently rated as one of the best jobs in America with median salaries meeting or exceeding $111,000 per year. Job positions can vary, from working with insurance companies to taking technical positions that allow for travel. For students who love mixing math with finance, this may be the perfect career to pursue at Piedmont University.
Challenging yet rewarding, actuarial science presents itself as the ultimate solution to several interdisciplinary problems the world faces today. The skills are limitless, and crucial jobs in this field of financial prediction never get dull.
Piedmont Helps Launch Your Career in Actuarial Science
Piedmont University is dedicated to offering students an actuarial science program that is intense and preparatory in nature. We provide a multitude of courses to prepare students with the skills necessary to become an official actuary. Piedmont conducts classes to prepare for three of the Society of Actuaries (SOA) exams, as well as the Validation by Educational Experience requirements, such as economics, accounting, finance, and mathematical statistics.
Our entire program is designed to pave the way for graduates’ success in achieving their ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) credential. While other undergraduate actuarial science programs exist, Piedmont’s requires that actuaries graduate with a mathematics degree, avoiding the pigeonholing that often occurs with students that enter this career path. Rather than feeling restricted to one specific field, our program structure equips students with skills that will allow them to transition into other fields post-graduation. We want to mold diverse students, and that is precisely what our program does.
While a strong academic foundation is certainly necessary, Piedmont prides itself on fostering social and communal relationships on campus. With small class sizes, dedicated and personable faculty, and Division III athletics, our students will truly find that family community while pursuing their careers as actuaries. Upon reaching graduation, our career services department will ensure that each and every student is on the path towards employment!
