Counseling Services
Caring Support Is Always Available
While college is typically seen to be an exciting time, it can often present difficult challenges that, occasionally, overwhelm even the most successful students. That is why Piedmont University offers counseling services to all students – free of charge. We know, no matter how good or exciting things may seem, your mental health can still suffer, and we want to make sure that we do everything in our power to support our students.
Our counseling staff are experienced, trained professionals, licensed with the State of Georgia and are ready to work with students on a wide range of issues. We are here for you.

How to Access Services
Where Are We Located?
Our counselors are located on the Demorest campus in the Student Success Center (Lane Hall) and can see students in-person there, but are also available through Zoom to our Athens and online students. [Note: counselors may only see students through Zoom if they are physically located in the State of Georgia at the time of their session.]
How to Get an Appointment
We make our counseling services available to ALL current students either via walk-ins or pre-set appointments. Walk-in appointments are set aside for those students facing mental health distress.
- Walk-in appointments (crisis): Monday – Thursday, 2-4pm
- Students can request appointments, and begin paperwork, through Starfish. Access Starfish to make an appointment at any time.
You are Not Alone
Piedmont University is dedicated to fostering a caring and supportive environment where students can thrive. Still, challenges arise that even the most resilient student cannot always anticipate. Experiencing stress does not require trauma—college life presents a range of internal and external pressures that can impact mental health.

With years of experience addressing concerns such as ADHD, adjustment to college, addiction, depression, and anxiety, they are ready to support you. The most important thing to remember is this: no matter what you’re feeling or have experienced, reaching out is the first step. You don’t have to struggle alone—contact us today.
