History Education

Why Pursue History Education?
To know our past is to know our future (or at least a reasonable facsimile), and in a digital age that is changing at an amazing pace, the need to understand the human journey has never been greater. History is also full of amazing people, places, and events – and when you graduate from Piedmont University with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in history education, you have the chance to share those stories and the lessons of the past with the people who make up our future.
A BA in history education from Piedmont will also give you an impressive resume in a profession suffering from a shortage of highly qualified teachers. We help set you apart by providing support from highly-qualified advisors – selected for both their teaching skill and experience in high school classrooms. From them you will learn model techniques proven to work in high school settings when teaching their college content courses. Candidates also experience the impact that diversity has on schooling and consider the implications on teaching and learning. The result is that you will graduate prepared to teach a whole range of students in grades 6-12.
