So, we greatly encourage you to apply today and add something different to our already unique student experience. Our beautiful setting has already captured the hearts and minds of many international students – and we are always excited to add more global perspectives to our community.
International Student Application Requirements
Bringing the World to Piedmont
If you are an international student planning to attend Piedmont University, you must follow these simple, but thorough steps:
1. Complete Application Forms
First, complete Piedmont’s online application.
NOTE: Please enter 000-00-0000 in the Social Security Number field. You may also submit The Common Application instead.
2. Submit an Evaluation of Credits
Next, submit a course-by-course evaluation of all secondary and post-secondary credits earned outside the United States, including a GPA calculation. We recommend you utilize the services of World Educational Services, Josef Silny & Associates, Inc., or any current member of NACES. If you are submitting a secondary coursework evaluation that reflects credits still in progress, the applicant must have a final official transcript submitted from the institution attended when available. This can be sent in an email to your Advisor once it becomes available.
3. Demonstrate English Proficiency
All prospective international students may submit one of the following:
- A) Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A satisfactory TOEFL score is 550 or higher on the paper-based version, 213 or higher on the computer-based version, or 79 or higher on the Internet-based version. A TOEFL score more than two years old will not be accepted.
- B) International English Language Testing System (IELTS). A satisfactory IELTS band score is 6 or higher.
- C) Georgia Tech Language Institute’s Intensive English Program (GTLI-IEP). Students must complete GTLI-IEP’s 700 Upper Advanced Level with a grade of “B” or higher in each of the four required classes and take the Michigan Test and receive a minimum score of 80 to show that they have successfully exited the ESL program.
- D) Duolingo English Examination. Students must score a minimum of 100 on the Duolingo exam, as well as submit the video requirement. Scanned score reports of the above examinations are not acceptable for admissions consideration. Scores more than 2 years old will not be accepted.
4. Submit a copy of financial statements showing funding for one year of costs.
This is required by Homeland Security.
Optional Steps
Submit standardized test scores
Submit an official score report of the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) of the College Entrance Examination Board or the American College Test (ACT) of the American College Testing Programs if available.
For undergraduate applications, all copies must be sent to Brittany DeVane at bdevane@piedmont.edu.
For graduate applications, all copies must be sent to Cat Mote at cmote@piedmont.edu.

College life is about way more than what happens in the classroom. And Piedmont students enjoy our university’s idyllic campus locations – including our main, 300-acre residential campus in Demorest, nestled amid the Appalachian foothills. Meanwhile, our satellite campus is situated in the heart of downtown Athens, just blocks from restaurants and entertainment venues. At Piedmont, you’ll find everything you’re looking for.
