Am I eligible for VA Educational Benefits?

Piedmont University does not determine eligibility for benefits or have access to any student’s Department of Defense VA Records. Please contact the VA directly for this information. More information about eligibility is available at https://www.vets.gov/education/eligibility/.

I am eligible for multiple VA Educational Benefits, but I’m not sure which is best for me. How can I find out?

The VA has provided an online Comparison Tool, which includes payment rates. It is available at http://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill/comparison_tool.asp.

How do I apply for VA Benefits?

Information and the applications for Veterans Educational Benefits are available online at: http://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill/.

How much money will I get for the Monthly Housing Allowance (BAH)?

Payment rates are set by Congress each year and any changes are typically effective in October. Rates are available at http://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill/comparison_tool.asp .

How many months of eligibility do I have left?

Piedmont University does not determine eligibility for benefits or have access to any student’s Department of Defense VA records. Please either contact the VA directly for this information or log in to your eBenefits account and click on Education Benefits on the left.

How do I transfer benefits to my spouse or dependent?

Information about transferring Post 9/11 GI Bill® Benefits (CH 33) is available at http://www.benefits.va.gov/GIBILL/post911_transfer.asp.

What if I am called to active military duty?

Students who receive emergency orders to active duty during a semester in progress must provide the school certifying official with a copy of these orders. The orders must include the date the student must report for duty and the length of time of service. This documentation may be required in order to receive a withdrawal without academic penalty.

Will withdrawing from a course affect my education benefits?

Students should be aware that a reduction in their hours may affect their Veterans Educational Benefits, including BAH. Contact the VA if you are concerned about the financial impact withdrawing from a class will have.
