Piedmont College to Host Reception for High School Art Exhibition

The Department of Art at Piedmont College will host a reception on Thursday, January 30, for its Annual High School Art Exhibition from 5-6:30 p.m. at Smith-Williams Gallery on the Demorest campus.

Artwork created by 50 students from nine area high schools is on display now through January 31 in the gallery and features various media, including pencil, acrylic and collage.

Participating artists include high school students from Brookwood, Gainesville, Milton, Mount Pisgah Christian School, Rabun Gap Nacoochee School, St. Francis and Franklin, Lumpkin and Stephens counties.

The exhibition was curated by Joshua McGowan, who graduated from Piedmont in 2016 and completed his master’s degree at Temple University. He returned to Piedmont as a visiting artist and also now teaches photography and professional practice courses.

Smith-Williams Gallery is located at 568 Laurel Avenue, Demorest. Admission is free and the gallery is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday.
