Piedmont to help the hungry with ‘Empty Bowls’ event
Members of the Piedmont College freshman class are again volunteering their time and artistic talents for the 11th annual “Empty Bowls” event to fight hunger. Proceeds from the event will go to Cornelia Soup Kitchen.
At 6 p.m., Tuesday, October 22 in the Piedmont College Swanson Center, students will be serving soup and bread in hand-crafted bowls. For a $15 donation, participants can pick out a bowl to keep and enjoy a simple supper donated by El Jinete Mexican Restaurant, Chartwells and Fender’s Diner.
Entertainment will be provided by Cantabile, the student a cappella ensemble, and Shticks and Giggles, a student improv troupe. Participants can also purchase raffle tickets for stoneware created by Chris Kelly, chair of the Piedmont College Art Department.
Tickets can be purchased at the door, but space is limited. Advance tickets are available at www.piedmont.edu/empty-bowls. For more information about the Empty Bowls international program, visit emptybowls.net.
