Piedmont and area high school ensembles set November concerts

Wind ensemble fans have two opportunities to hear music by large and small groups November 10 and November 13 at Habersham High School.

The Piedmont Chamber and Wind Ensembles will perform 7:30 p.m., November 10. Directed by Dianasue Walton, the Chamber Ensemble will perform eight works by composers including Mozart, Chris Gumbley, Ralph Guenther and Francisco Tarrega. The Wind Ensemble, conducted by Vicki Pinson, will perform works by 20th century composers including K.L. King, E. Derville and Ed Huckeby.

At 7:20 p.m., November 13, Walton will direct the Piedmont Woodwind Ensemble, a prelude to the Wind Ensemble Partnership Concert, directed by Pinson.

The Partnership Concert will feature the Wind Ensemble joined by musicians from six area schools, including Banks County High School, directed by Jon Congdon; Chestatee High School, directed by Daniel Merck and Ernie Phillips; Habersham Central High School, directed by Ryan Dukes; Hart County High School, directed by Alan Tolbert; North Hall High School, directed by Kevin Carwile; South Habersham Middle School, directed by James Geiger and West Hall High School, directed by Katy Wilson.

 

Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend. Habersham Central High School is located at 2059 Old Highway 197 S., Mt. Airy.
