Meritain Transparency in Coverage
The Transparency in Coverage Rule is a federal regulation designed to empower consumers to shop and compare costs among various providers before receiving care, helping consumers better understand the cost of their health care.
This is required by law in the Transparency in Coverage Rule effective 7/1/2022.
Key aspects of the rule are:
Publicly available website: The machine-readable files must be accessible on a website without requiring users to establish an account or provide personal information.
Platform independence: The files must be in a non-proprietary, open-standards format that is platform independent.
No restrictions: The data must be made available without restrictions.
Monthly updates: The machine-readable files must be updated monthly.
Phased implementation: The rule was implemented in phases, with the machine-readable file requirement effective July 1, 2022.
