Professional Biography & Experience
Wallace Hinson, a native of Little Rock, Arkansas, is Conservatory of Music - Associate Dean of Fine Arts & Professor of Music at Piedmont College, Demorest, Georgia. He conducts the Piedmont College Singers, teaches conducting, and is director of and tenor/baritone in the 10-voice group Cantabile. He received the Bachelor and Master of Music Education degrees from the University of Central Arkansas, and the Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting and Literature from the University of Illinois, studying choral conducting with John Erwin and Don V Moses and orchestral conducting with Paul Vermel. He has conducted regional and state-level honor choirs in Arkansas, Georgia, and Illinois. Hinson has guest conducted the Gainesville Symphony Orchestra and the Atlanta Singers, the latter with which he recorded the critically-acclaimed CD Deep River, and has served as conductor and artistic director of the Lanier Chamber Singers, Gainesville, Georgia. Hinson is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, Chorus America, Conductors Guild, College Music Society, and Music Educators National Conference.
