Professional Biography & Experience
Dr. Ed Taylor, professor of business administration, came to Piedmont College in August 1999. Since then he was a department Chair in the Walker School of Business for over ten years, director of Athens operations for five years, and for the past five years, he also directed the MBA program on the Demorest Campus. In his current assignment as Dean of the Walker School of Business his focus is on Demorest Operations and business school wide quality improvement.
Dr. Taylor earned his Ph.D. at the University of Kentucky where he majored in management with a specialty in organizational behavior and then held the rank of assistant professor before he came to Piedmont. His MBA, from Morehead State University, also is in management.
Dr. Taylor’s first fifteen years in the world of work was in the field of computer technology and, by age 28, he was the manager of the largest MIS organization in the state of Kentucky (Kentucky State Government’s Management Information Systems Division). His second decade in industry featured jobs as the chief computer systems manager for two different corporations, a Supply Chain Manager and culminated as Plant Manager of Kuhlman Electric Company, the largest subsidiary of Kuhlman Corporation; the sixth largest Corporation in Kentucky at that time.
