Welcome back! Here at Piedmont College we never want to forget the importance of the past when looking toward the future. Alumni Relations plays a key role in keeping alumni involved in campus life and celebrating their continuing successes. Be sure to stay connected with fellow alumni as well as your alma mater.
Octavius Mulligan (BA, ’95, MA ’00, EdS ’02, EdD ’14)
“I wouldn't be where I am today if it were not for Piedmont and the professors who've worked hard to support me during my time there.”
Dr. Octavius Mulligan (BA, ’95, MA ’00, EdS ’02, EdD ’14) is no stranger to the Alumni Association, having earned four degrees from Piedmont. In 2010, he was awarded the Piedmont Alumni Pacesetter Award, after serving on the Alumni Association Board of Directors 2004-2006.
Dr. Mulligan first attended Piedmont in 1989, where he met his future wife of 24 years, Marlo Mulligan (’93). They reside in Cleveland, GA, and have two children, Sydnee, 22, and Silas, 13.
In his 24 years as an educator, Dr. Mulligan has been devoted to ensuring the success of his students. He taught second, third and fourth grades at White Sulphur Elementary School in Gainesville for 10 years, where he was named “Teacher of the Year” in 2004. He has also served as the Vice Principal at Cornelia Elementary School, South Habersham Middle School, Habersham Central, and White County High School.
Dr. Mulligan was recently selected as the new Principal at Tesnatee Gap Elementary School in Cleveland, GA, where he continues to engage with parents, students, and community members to foster a positive and meaningful learning environment.
The Piedmont College Alumni Association helps to build relationships between alumni and the college through local and regional programming. They sponsor events in support of the goals and objectives of the college as well as social events such as Alumni Weekend, the Coach Cave Golf Tournament, young alumni events, and student/alumni events.
