Piedmont University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling Graduate Program Achieves 100% Pass Rate on CPCE Exam

Piedmont University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling Graduate Program is proud to announce that 100% of the students in its inaugural December 2024 graduating class passed the Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Examination (CPCE). This milestone achievement marks a significant accomplishment for both the program and its students.

The CPCE is a comprehensive exam designed to assess students’ knowledge of core counseling competencies obtained in the program. Piedmont’s counseling program had four students take the exam, and collectively, they achieved an average score of 102.5, significantly outperforming the national average score of 96. The highest student score of 112 stands well above the national mean.

“We are incredibly proud of the students in our inaugural graduating class for their hard work and dedication to the field of clinical mental health, as well as for their outstanding performance on the CPCE,” said Dr. Mindie Blackshear-Turner, Department Chair for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Graduate Program.

The results of the CPCE also serve as a testament to the rigor of Piedmont University’s commitment to preparing students for successful careers in clinical mental health counseling. These results reflect that Piedmont’s students are well-positioned to succeed in state and national licensing exams upon graduation.
