Director of Personal & Career Counseling
College can be an exciting time for people being away from home for possibly the first time. Having to make decisions for yourself that could affect the rest of your life is a new experience for some college students. At Piedmont we offer counseling services to anyone who may need some guidance with those difficult decisions.
Personal counseling is not advice giving or having someone make decisions for you. It is someone to talk through concerns or problems with and to help YOU make the best decisions possible. A counselor does not judge you, but helps to guide you through issues concerning depression, anxiety, social adjustment concerns, relationships, stress, nutrition and eating problems, or any other area of concern. When the need for counseling services goes beyond the scope of what can be handled at Piedmont, a referral to a community resource will be offered.
Each counseling session is confidential. That means the counselor will not gossip about you with faculty, staff or your peers. Confidentiality is broken in cases that could result in harm to yourself or someone else. Your safety is the college’s #1 priority.
