Graduate Degree Programs

Application for graduate admissions is open to any person who has successfully completed, or will complete by date of entry, the appropriate degree from a regionally accredited institution. Classes are taught at the Demorest and Athens campuses and at a limited number of cohort locations across northeast Georgia.

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

The Master of Business Administration program is designed to serve the educational and practical interests of individuals who are seeking managerial positions or wish to progress to higher levels.

Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT)

The Master of Arts in Teaching degree is for students seeking initial certification in education fields. The School of Education strives to prepare reflective, scholarly, and proactive educators.

Master of Arts (MA)

Master of Arts degrees in education are designed for teachers and/or individuals who hold a valid teaching certificate or who are currently teaching in a private school accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) or the Georgia Accrediting Commission Inc. (GAC) at the Accredited With Quality (AWQ) or Accredited (ACC) level. The programs are offered on the campuses in Athens and Demorest. Selected programs are offered off-campus in a cohort model in many local school districts across the state of Georgia.

Master of Arts in Instructional Technology (MAIT)

The Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Instructional Technology offers two tracks: one with an emphasis on instructional design and development in professional commercial, government, and educational organizations, which is which is offered to candidates holding a minimum of a bachelors degree in any field. The second program is designed with an emphasis on instructional technology in school/school district settings, and is offered to educators who currently hold teacher certification and wish to pursue Georgia educator certification in Instructional Technology and earn an S-5 certificate.

Master of Arts in Educational Studies (MA)

The Master of Arts degree in Educational Studies meets the needs of individuals who wish to pursue advanced study but who do not wish or need state certification.

Master of Science: Athletic Training (MS)

The Master of Science: Athletic Training (MS) degree Athletic Training (ATHL) courses cover a wide range of health care subjects, from pathology of injuries and illnesses, to conditioning and rehabilitative exercises, to nutrition and pharmacology. Graduates provide a link between physically active individuals and the medical community. Students receive classroom instruction and serve clinical practicums at traditional and allied community health settings across northeast Georgia. While this major prepares students to take the national BOC examination to become Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC), it is also appropriate for students wishing to become dual-credentialed (i.e. ATC & Physical Therapy). The MS in Athletic Training is taking applications beginning Fall 2018, and will start in Summer 2019!

Education Specialist in Curriculum and Instruction (Ed.S.)

The Education Specialist program develops distinguished contributing teachers as leaders, mentors, and models across schools and systems.

Education Specialist in Art Education (Ed.S.)

An in-field advanced graduate degree program designed for educators who are currently certified as art educators who wish to upgrade their knowledge and skills. This is NOT an initial certification program.

Education Specialist in Music Education (Ed.S.)

An in-field advanced graduate degree program designed for educators who are currently certified as music educators who wish to upgrade their knowledge and skills. This is NOT an initial certification program.

Education Specialist in Instructional Technology (Ed.S.) – Advanced Certification

An in-field advanced graduate degree program designed for educators who are currently certified as art educators who wish to upgrade their knowledge and skills. This is NOT an initial certification program.

Education Specialist in Instructional Technology (Ed.S.) – Initial Certification

An in-field advanced graduate degree program designed for educators who are currently certified as art educators who wish to upgrade their knowledge and skills. This is an initial certification program. Educators will be required to take and pass the Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators (GACE) in Instructional Technology in order to be recommended for certification.

Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction (Ed.D)

The doctoral program will facilitate transformational change of individuals and schools by preparing teacher leaders, school professionals, and school administrators for the challenges of our rapidly changing world.

Certification Only Program

The Certification Program is designed for applicants seeking to be certified as teachers. This program does not lead to a degree, and students are limited to certain courses of study.

Non-degree Program

Piedmont's Non-Degree Program is designed for students who wish to take a maximum of three courses (9 hours). This program does not lead to a degree.
