Professional Biography & Experience
Keith R. Nelms earned undergraduate and masters degrees from Georgia Tech's School of Industrial and Systems Engineering and a doctorate in instructional technology from Georgia State University. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Georgia. Prior to joining Piedmont's Walker School of Business, Dr. Nelms worked as a systems consultant with Kurt Salmon Associates, an international management consulting firm, as a research engineer and economic developer with the Georgia Tech Research Institute's Industrial Extension Service, and as a programmer, database designer, and manager of information and media services for the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.
For several years, Dr. Nelms served as editor for the Georgia Economic Developers Association's state newsletter and has received awards from the Society for Technical Communication for technical documentation at GTRI. He co-authored a book on technology in the banking and finance industries, authored a book chapter on self-directed learning, and has published in peer-reviewed academic journals such as Technology Forecasting and Social Change, Computers & Industrial Engineering, The Journal of Computing Sciences in Colleges, and The Journal of Learning in Higher Education. Dr. Nelms lives with his wife on a mountainside in Tallulah Falls and frequently FaceTimes with his daughter in Washington DC.
