Education Specialist (EdS) in Instructional Technology
The Piedmont College School of Education offers TWO Education Specialist degrees…one for initial certification and one for Advanced Certification. Both programs are designed to prepare and support professional educators to attain distinguished levels of both theory and practice and to become contributing members in the professional discourse of improving schooling in roles such as Technology Leader, Instructional Technology Coordinator or Director of Instructional Technology. - Applicants for INITIAL certification are those who are currently certified educators who hold a master’s degree in another field who wish to be certified in Instructional Technology. Candidates will be required to take and pass the Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators (GACE) in Instructional Technology in order to qualify for an Service (S-6) certificate. Program typically begins in the summer.
- Applicants for advanced certification must currently hold certification in Instructional Technology in order to qualify for a certificate upgrade (Level 6) upon completion. Program typically begins in the summer.
