Those pursuing a career in criminal justice want to create safer communities. The criminal justice system includes courts, law enforcement, and corrections. A degree in this field can help launch a career as a police officer, investigator, cyber security agent, federal agent, and fish and game warden. Some criminal justice majors advance to law school. This broader field includes corrections, forensic science, homeland security, and private security. In this growing field, criminal justice professionals have ample job opportunities and report high job satisfaction.
Currently, about 50 students are enrolled in the program. Unlike criminal justice majors at other institutions, Piedmont requires students to complete a semester long internship. These experiences give students the practicable knowledge and professional contacts they need to launch a successful career. Most recently, our students have completed internships in Forsyth, DeKalb, Cobb, Gwinnet counties and for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
