About Cardiovascular Technology
The Cardiovascular Technology program was created to meet the need for competent and compassionate cardiovascular technologists. Our goal is to develop knowledgeable sonographers whose ambition is to assist cardiologists in the accurate diagnosis of heart and vascular disease.
The Piedmont program is taught by experts in their field, including technologists, registered nurses, midlevel providers and cardiovascular physicians, who are specialists in consultative cardiology, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, heart failure, and advanced cardiovascular imaging. No other program will broaden your experience in the field of cardiology by providing you with didactic education and hands-on clinical experience.
Our cardiovascular technology studies are structured in a professional classroom setting, providing more individual attention and better communication between the instructor and students. As a part of the studies students participate in a clinical externship which is an integral part of the training program. Our students will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and technology which will better equip them with a strong foundation for a career in the field of cardiovascular imaging. Our facility is accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL) and Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL). The program is also accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Cardiovascular Technology. These accreditation initiatives are evidence of our commitment to uphold the highest standards of health care quality.
Our mission is to provide a high quality education in the field of cardiovascular technology. The primary focus of the program is dedicated both to Adult Echocardiography and Peripheral Vascular Sonography. It is the intent of the school to combine state-of-the-art education with ethical and professional standards that will develop the industry leaders of tomorrow. The successful completion of the program will result in a well-trained professional that is eligible to sit for registry exams offered by both the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) organizations.
