Jessica Brock ǀ Gallion, AL ǀ Math Education 

Undergrad: University of West Alabama, 2015, Math & Chemistry 

Jessica earned an Undergraduate degree in both Math and Chemistry from the University of West Alabama. While obtaining her degree she was a mathematics STEM mentor; graduate assistant and tutor, mathematics lab and a physics instructor. She was a student athlete and was an active member of multiple on-campus honor societies. Jessica was the recipient of multiple academic scholarships, as well as a dean’s list student.

Valerie Brown ǀ Dalton, GA ǀ Math Education

Undergrad: University of Georgia, 1991, Agricultural Engineering

Valerie earned an Undergraduate degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Georgia. She has worked as a SAT and ACT math teaching assistant and instructor in addition to a science preparation coach. Valerie was a driver’s education and an e-learning paraprofessional and has also spent some time as a substitute teacher. She has experience as an engineering aid with the U.S. EPA. As an avid philanthropist, Valerie enjoys helping others.

Carlin Chandler ǀ Arnoldsville, GA ǀ Broadfield Science Education

 
Undergrad: University of Vermont, 2001, Ecology 
Graduate: University of Massachusetts, 2006, M.S., Ecology 

Carlin has worked as a field biologist researching populations of species of concern in forestry and agricultural systems. She works as a substitute teacher in Massachusetts as well as an English teacher and adult Spanish speaker in Cedral, Costa Rica. Carlin helps with AmeriCorps and is a visa volunteer. Her compassion as a community volunteer, leads her to be a mentor in the Big Brother/Sister program. Carlin’s greatest accomplishment thus far is motherhood.

Leslie Dunham ǀ Atlanta, GA ǀ Broadfield Science Education

Undergrad: Berry College, 2006, Psychology 
Graduate: Georgia State University, 2015, Ph.D., Neuroscience 

Leslie was a graduate researcher in neuroendocrinology and behavior as well as an anatomy and physiology laboratory instructor. She has also mentored high school students along with laboratory research undergraduate students. Leslie has completed her Ph.D. in neuroscience and is a published researcher. She enjoys spending time as a K-12 STEM classroom volunteer and teaching fitness classes.

Tyler Kinner ǀ Ansonia, OH ǀ Broadfield Science Education

Undergrad: University of Toledo, 2014, Chemistry & Physics 

Tyler received a degree in chemistry and physics from the University of Toledo. His knowledge for chemistry and physics allowed him to tutor other students, as well as become a peer leader in chemistry and a physics undergraduate research assistant. Tyler is a founding member of the Building Ohio’s Sustainable Energy Future student organization. Due to his hard work in research he has been awarded with multiple academic scholarships and research grants.

Daron Martin ǀ McDonough, GA ǀ Broadfield Science Education
 

Undergrad: Georgia Southern University, 2013, Biology 

Daron received a degree in Biology at Georgia Southern University. As a student he was involved in the campus choir and was a campus leader in the undergraduate religious organization. He has immersed himself in community service outreach programs and has spent time volunteering with the youth in many religious groups. As a Docent at the BODIES Exhibit, Daron was determined to make learning fun for the students that came through the museum.

Brittany Ritter ǀ Pickerington, OH ǀ Broadfield Science Education

Undergrad: University of Dayton, 2014, Pre-Medicine 

Brittany received a degree in Pre-Med from the University of Dayton in Ohio. She was a senior program coordinator at the Columbus Urban League, where she helped with the education and youth services as well as the middle school after school program. She was the president of the women’s basketball club and a member of the biological science fraternity. Brittany was a tutor to local African refugees and the university’s Upward Bound program. She enjoys volunteering at local hospice and children’s hospitals.

Ira Roberts ǀ East Orange, NJ ǀ Math Education 

Undergrad: Benedict College, 1986, Physics 

Ira has taught both Math and Science at a Middle and High school level. As a tutor he helps prepare students for the SAT as well as math. Ira has 22 years of classroom experience, and has received multiple awards for his outstanding work as an educator.

Shelby Schuller ǀ Sharon, PA ǀ Math Education

Undergrad: Georgia Institute of Technology, 2014, Applied Mathematics and Applied Languages & Intercultural Studies 

Shelby worked as an undergraduate teaching assistant at Georgia Tech for both calculus and linear algebra.  Her ability to speak fluent Spanish allowed her to organize plus supervised a Spanish immersion program in Mexico City. She enjoys volunteer as an ESL instructor for Spanish-speaking mothers. Shelby is a National Merit Scholar and was a active in the color guard in both middle and high school. She also sings in the community choir.

Crispin Stromberg ǀ Cumming, GA ǀ Math Education

Undergrad: University of North Georgia, 2010, Mathematics 
Graduate: Kennesaw State University, 2012, M.S., Applied Statistics 

Crispin has worked as a Mathematics instructor at both Lanier Technical College and Georgia Enrichment Center. He has tutored math at both a high school and college level. Crispin has received multiple academic scholarships and enjoys volunteering in his community.

Damien Washington ǀ Atlanta, GA ǀ Broadfield Science Education

Undergrad: Ashford University, 2014, Health and Wellness 

Damien received a degree from Ashford University in Health and Wellness. He is a certified personal trainer and sports nutrition consultant. He facilitates and presents at many health and wellness workshops. Damien is a peer leader and helps with the minority youth of the metropolitan area. He has worked as a crew scheduler for a Georgia-based airline and is involved in multiple honor societies.
