Q         Are there dorms specifically for athletes?

A          No, we do not typically separate our students by sport, though we try to match all of our students up by personal interest. If a student requests to be placed with another athlete then we try to place them in the same suite or at least on the same hall.

Q          How do new students request housing?

A          First, they should check with our Admission’s staff to get into the system.  Next, they should pay a $100 deposit through our Business Office; this deposit secures the student a room within one of residence halls. Lastly, the student can feel free to set up an appointment through our Admissions Office to come and visit our selection of residence halls.

Q          Should a student wait until they have received information from other schools before they send back their application?

A          No, because there is a limited amount of space within our residence halls we encourage student to apply as soon as they can.

Q          Do returning students have to place a housing deposit?

A          Yes, because we have a limited space for on-campus living, we encourage students to request their preferred rooms as soon as possible

Q          Can I request my roommate as a freshman?

A          Of course, if there is someone that a student knows and would feel comfortable with, then we would love to accommodate them as much as we can.  We do ask that they make sure that the person that they are requesting is the same classification as them until they reach sophomore status, which is 30 credit hours. 

Q          Can I get dimensions of my room before I get to Piedmont?

A          Yes, dimensions for all of room types are available at request from the Residence Life Coordinator at mmaynard@piedmont.edu or on the Piedmont Website. 

Q          Can I change roommates after one has been assigned to me?

A          Yes, it is possible for roommates to be changed.  We do ask that all students give their living arrangement a 3-week trial period before we permit a change.

Q          Where do freshmen live?

A            Currently, we have two primary freshmen residence halls: Purcell which is our freshmen men’s dorm and Getman-Babcock which is our freshmen ladies dorms, these dorms are on opposite sides of the campus but are 5 minutes or less from the main campus.

Q          What is a suitemate?

A          A suitemate is the person that the resident will share a bathroom or common area with.  Their room is usually connected by a bathroom or living area. 

Q          How do I report a maintenance request?

A          If a student finds that there is something wrong with there room at anytime they are encouraged to let their RA know and the RA will report this to their RD and the RD will see that these matters are taken care of.

Q          Is there an age limit to live on campus?

A          Though there is no official age limit to our dorm students we do ask that all residential students be at least 18 years old.

Q          What is a RA and a RD?

A          An Resident Assistant (RA) is responsible for creating a positive living environment for their hall or floor.  The RA reports to the Resident Director (RD), who is in charge of the entire dorm.

Q          Where do students wash clothes?

A          Each dorm housing on site washing facilities which are free for the students to use.

Q          Can students bring cars their first year?

A          Yes, students are able to bring cars their first year.  Each student will receive a car decal that will identify their dorm and where they will be able to park.

Q          Do students have a curfew?

A            Students do not have a set curfew but we do ask that all students respect Piedmont’s visitation policies within the residence hall.

Q          What is the policy on overnight guests?

A            Students may have same-sex over night guests.  We ask that the guest not stay more than three consecutive nights and that the student notifies their Resident Director at least 24 hours in advance.
