German consul to speak at Piedmont College
Dr. Lutz Görgens, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany, will present a talk on “Growth and Sustainability: A German Approach” at 4:30 p.m., Thursday, March 22, in Stewart Auditorium on Piedmont’s Demorest campus. This free event is open to the community.
Görgens is the Consul General at the German Consulate in Atlanta. Born in Dusseldorf, Germany, he started his career as a senior language teacher at the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom after earning his Ph.D. in German Literature and History from the University of Tübingen. Over the next 30 years, Görgens worked in education and at numerous German embassies worldwide.
In 2006, Görgens was named the Deputy Consul General in Atlanta and in 2007 he became the Consul General.
