Carnies, clowns, and fortune tellers are gathering for the Carnival of Screams to frighten those who dare to enter their haunted house on Oct. 28.
The Piedmont College Campus Activities Board is hosting the Haunted House from 6:45 p.m. until midnight at the Lane Student Center in Demorest. The night will begin with "Good Fairy Tours" for young children to be escorted through the haunted house with their parents and meet the haunted house characters.
"There is no intentional scaring during the Good Fairy Tours," said Sean Maguire, director of the Campus Activities Board. "We feel like these tours show the younger kids that Halloween is celebrated by people of all ages."
Starting at 8:10 p.m., those who dare may enter the haunted house to experience the surprises that await them. The Carnival of Screams will not close until midnight when the visitors are sent away screaming.
During the haunted house, the campus Quad will be filled with games and booths, from inflatables to face painting, for kids to enjoy the Halloween spirit. If there is inclement weather, the games and booths will be moved to the Nielsen Dining Hall.
This free event is open to community members of all ages. The Lane Student Center is on the campus quad with parking available at the main entrance of the school. Drivers are asked to be careful and safe because there will be a lot of people on campus.
