Piedmont lacrosse plays first matches
The men's lacrosse team played its first intercollegiate matches on Oct. 23 with a series of scrimmages against the UGA and Clemson varsity club teams.
Piedmont coach Pete Manderano said the scrimmages were the cap to the new team’s practice sessions, as they get ready for the NCAA Division III season that begins in February.
Under NCAA rules, official scores for the scrimmage games are not reported.
"I think the kids played really well; I liked their effort," Manderano said. "Over all it was a great day. Those are two pretty good programs in the Southeast, but there is no point shying away from good competition. The first game we were maybe a little nervous, but I did not think they were intimidated by anybody. It was a nice beginning. We've got a lot of work to do, but over all the coaches were pretty happy."
