Habitat for Humanity benefit concert to be held at Piedmont College
Piedmont will host a benefit concert and cookout to help raise funds for the Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Georgia Women's Build from 6-10 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Arrendale Amphitheater. Sponsors of the event include Clarkesville Dairy Queen, Clarkesville Zaxby’s, WCON, and Habersham EMC.
The benefit concert “Invade” will showcase Indie bands from several areas. Bands will include “The Crash Years” from Clarkesville, “Wire Method” from Atlanta, “10 Steps Back” from Buford, and “I Spy the Sailor” from Covington. In addition to music, a cookout will begin at 6 p.m. along with family-friendly activities and raffles throughout the evening.
The current and first Women’s Build house was started on April 25 in the Bean Creek area of White County in the Sautee Nacoochee Valley, and the dedication is scheduled for Sept. 24. Projects on the house includes installing porches, putting up siding, putting in insulation, painting, installing kitchen cabinets, and landscaping. The current work schedule is 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
