Piedmont to host art and theater camps

Piedmont College theater and art departments are hosting camps for middle and high school students. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., June 20-24 students will join art department chair Chris Kelly or theater department chair Bill Gabelhausen for workshops in their respective fields.

During the theater camp, hosted with Habersham Community Theatre, students will begin their mornings with workshops and classes in stage movement, improvisation, monologue development, character development, and script analysis. In the afternoons after provided lunch, students will develop a performance they will present Friday, June 24, on the Swanson Center Mainstage.

During the art camp, morning sessions explore painting and photography, and during afternoon sessions students will participate in ceramics and sculpture workshops. The camp will conclude with a Raku firing and exhibition on Friday. Students are asked to bring a digital camera. Large megapixel cameras are requested, but point and shoot cameras will work fine.

There is a $150 registration fee, which includes camp supplies and lunch for the whole week. Checks are made payable to Piedmont College.
