Art students to host ‘Empty Bowls’ fundraiser
Piedmont College’s international honorary art fraternity, Kappa Pi, is hosting the Second Annual “Empty Bowls," charity event, Thursday, March 17, in Jenkins Theater. Seating for dinner will begin in the lobby promptly at 6 p.m., with entertainment in the theater directly following dinner.
Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger. Potters and other craftspeople, educators, and students work with the community to create handcrafted bowls. Guests are invited to a simple meal of soup and bread and are asked to keep their bowl as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world. The money raised is donated to an organization working to end hunger and food insecurity. This year’s Empty Bowls will benefit the Habersham County Soup Kitchen in Clarkesville.
Entertainment for the evening will be provided by Piedmont College Theater Department’s comedy improv group, “Schticks & Giggles,” and the Music Department’s elite group of vocal performers, “Cantabile.” Dinner will be provided by Java Joe’s in Clarkesville, with vegetarian options available.
