German consul general to speak here Nov. 5
Lutz Görgens, the German Consul General of Atlanta, will present a talk on the role of Germany in the European Union and on the economic situation in Europe.
The free lecture is open to the public and will be held at 4:30 p.m., Nov. 5, in the Stewart Hall Auditorium on the Demorest Campus.
As Consul General, Görgens is the official representative of the German government to the southeast U.S., including the states of Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. He joined the German diplomatic corps in 1978 after earning a PhD in German literature and history at the University of Tübingen. He has held posts in Algeria, Tunisia, Mexico and Turkey before joining the consulate staff in Atlanta in 2007.
