Polly Astin, DNP, CNM

Associate Professor 

Teaching

Dr. Astin teaches Pharmacology and the Women’s Health and Obstetric content in the Family nursing course for the junior level. She is part of the team teaching Health Assessment.

Service

Dr. Astin is a member of the American Nurses Association, the Georgia Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau, and the American College of Nurse-Midwives. She currently serves as treasurer for the R. H. Daniel School of Nursing Honor Society. Currently, Dr. Astin serves on the Board of Directors for the Evie Peters Foundation, a nonprofit organization to assist those in the community who are diagnosed with breast cancer.

Clinical Practice/Expertise

As a nurse for over 30 years, Dr. Astin has practiced in various settings with the last 25 years in Obstetric nursing. She is certified as a nurse-midwife by the American College of Nurse-Midwives Certification Council. Prior to teaching, Dr. Astin practiced full-scope midwifery for 13 years in Rome, GA.
