Dr. O’Keefe is co-director and advisor for the English Creative Writing Track, and he is responsible for "The Piedmont Arts Collective," a new literary lyceum program sponsored by the English Department. He conducts the PC annual Academy of American Poets prize, and he serves on the President’s PC 125 Committee.
Dr. O'Keefe's research interests include contemporary poetry and poetics, Modernism, Elizabethan drama, collage practices, representations of violence, and the lyric essay. His first book of poetry, The Goodbye Town, won the 2010 FIELD Poetry Prize and was published by Oberlin College Press. Other poems and essays have appeared in The American Poetry Review, Boston Review, Conjunctions, Denver Quarterly, Indiana Review, Seneca Review, and The Best American Poetry.
