Piedmont students return for Fall Semester
Freshman Aaron Patterson of Bogart gets a hand as he moves into Purcell Hall at Piedmont College on Aug. 11. The green-shirted Orientation Assistants are, from left, Katie Faith of Simpsonville, S.C., Patrick Ammons of Roswell, and Parker Ellison of Evans.
Unpacking and meeting new neighbors were the orders of the day as freshmen from across Georgia and the U.S. began moving into the residence halls at the Demorest campus on Sunday. While registration for the semester is not yet complete, this year's freshman class of about 252 students is one of the largest in the college's history. That number includes 216 freshmen at the Demorest campus and 36 freshmen at the Athens campus.
During their first week on campus, students will attend a variety of orientation classes, including team-building exercises at the Athens YWCO camp in Hollywood, hiking at Tallulah Gorge, and tubing on the Chattahoochee River. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors returned to campus on Tuesday, Aug. 13 and classes begin at both campuses on Aug. 15.
