Welcome Class of 2016

Schools of Business creates new model for registration

07.18.2012

Pre-Orientation was split over two separate days this year to accommodate for the growing incoming freshmen population on our Demorest campus. The Walker School of Business would like to welcome the 25 new business majors to Piedmont College for the next four years.

The freshmen were introduced to a new way of thinking about how to register for classes. Dr. Ed Taylor, Chair of the Demorest Undergraduate Program, generated a diagram to help the business majors better understand how to sign up for classes over the next four years. The diagram below shows how to best take classes in order to not be overloaded and how to take them in a manner that will make sure a student is taking all the prerequisites to be better prepared for the classes.

After some time of easing fears about class load and how to work around different schedules with sports and other activities, the 25 incoming freshmen were given their schedules for the fall semester. On August 12, these freshmen will make the move to Piedmont’s dorms and begin PC 101, an important class on how to transition from high school to college life. For the first time business professor Dr. Kerry Waller will be leading this group of freshmen in this journey. Beginning with team building activities and class meetings on what is to be expected over the next four years, the freshmen are in for an exciting first semester of college life.

The Walker School of Business is excited for this fall semester to be able meet the freshmen class and begin to help mold them all into successful men and women. Welcome Class of 2016!

Student Spotlight: Margaret Ryder

"Its student-teacher/professor ratios were less than 25 students per class on average.  You can really appreciate that after sitting in a class of 300 for Econ 101 at UGA. For the record, my number was #227."
