Pianist Phillip Hayner to present recital Oct. 21 Dr. Phillip Hayner, professor of music at Piedmont College, will present a piano recital at 7:30 p.m., Oct. 21, in the college's Center for Worship and Music in Demorest. The recital is free and everyone is invited. Dr. Hayner's performance is titled "An original, an old print, some snapshots and an art show," and will commence with the Prelude and Fugue in G-minor from the Well-Tempered Clavier, volume II by J.S. Bach. Next he will play Franz Liszt’s transcription of "Isolda’s Liebestod" from Richard Wagner’s opera “Tristan und Isolde.” Mrs. Joy Andre Hayner will join Dr. Hayner in playing his piano duet based on the J.R.R. Tolkien novel "The Hobbit." Dr. Hayner will conclude the recital with Mussorgsky’s "Pictures at an Exhibition." |
