Piedmont Cantabile
sets Oct. 28 concert


The Piedmont College Early Bird Concert Series continues Thursday, Oct. 28, with a performance by the college's Cantabile singers. The free concert will be held at 5 p.m. in Brooks Recital Hall in the Center for Worship and Music in Demorest.

Cantabile is a select group of nine Piedmont College singers specializing in jazz, pop arrangements, and novelty songs, as well as secular and sacred chamber music from the Renaissance and early Baroque periods. Quickly gaining a reputation as a highly entertaining and skilled group of singers, Cantabile performs in concert, at special events on campus and in the community, and on tour.

The theme of the upcoming concert is "Famous Last Words" and will feature works by Orlando Gibbons, Thomas Tallis, Boyz 2 Men, and Billy Joel.

The Cantabile singers, directed by Dr. Wallace Hinson, include Laurie Campbell, soprano; Misty Chandler, soprano; Rebecca Barnes, mezzo soprano; Deanna Allen, alto; Bethany Fisher, alto; Micah Dingler, tenor; Wallace Hinson, tenor; Jeremy Bishop, baritone; and Kenny Rainey, bass.
