Area singers celebrate Christmas with
Piedmont's 'Concert of Lessons and Carols'

The Piedmont College Chorale and Habersham Central High School Singers will present their annual "Concert of Lessons and Carols" at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 30, and again on Saturday, Dec. 1, at the college's Center for Worship and Music in Demorest. The concert is free and everyone is invited.

This is the 19th anniversary of the annual concert, which will include readings from the story of the birth of Christ, accompanied by choral pieces. The choirs will perform works by classic and modern composers and the audience is invited to join in the singing of a number of traditional Christmas hymns.

The Piedmont Chorale is composed of singers from the college and the northeast Georgia community under the direction of Dr. Wallace Hinson, with assistant conductors Jennifer Babel and Emily Giardina. The Habersham Central High School Singers are directed by Bobby Ivey.

Accompanists include organist Dr. James Mellichamp and pianists Joy Hayner and Donna Bunn James. The concert also will include brass performances by Patricia Jameson, Philip Jameson, Colin Jones, Cathy Kilroe-Smith, and Amanda Pepping.

Lectors will include the Rev. Dr. Ashley Cleere, Dr. Garen Simmons, Linda Wofford, Bob Glass, the Rev. Dr. Michael Chittum, Lores Hauck, Dr. Tim Lytle, Dr. Barbara Steinhaus, Dr. Barbara Brown Taylor, and Dr. Curtis Bradford.
