Piedmont Theatre presents
'Rosencrantz and Guildenstern'

(11-7-05) The Piedmont College Theatre will present Tom Stoppard's groundbreaking play, "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead" beginning Wednesday Nov. 16 at Jenkins Theater on the main campus in Demorest.

Stoppard's first full-length play filters the classic tragedy, "Hamlet," through the eyes of two of Shakespeare's minor characters. With Danielle Bailey as Guildenstern and Patrick Young as Rosencrantz, the result is a surreal, but philosophical examination of human existence.

The play times are 7:30 p.m., Nov. 16 through Nov. 19, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20. Tickets are $7 for adults and $2 for students. Piedmont students, faculty and staff are admitted free. Reserve tickets by calling (706) 778-8500 extension 1355.

Professor Travis Smith, director, said Stoppard's script "is extremely clever, and thematically it makes universal connections to humanity. It is a thought-provoking play that sets wheels in motion and allows us all to think about our own directions in life. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern could easily be you or I.”
