17th 'Concert of Lessons and Carols' to ring in the holidays at Piedmont College (11-22-05) The Piedmont College Chorale and Habersham Central High School Singers will present their annual "Concert of Lessons and Carols" at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 2, and again on Saturday, Dec. 3, at the college's Center for Worship and Music in Demorest. This is the 17th anniversary of the annual concert, which will include readings from the story of the birth of Christ, accompanied by choral pieces. The concert is free and everyone is invited. The choirs will perform works by classic and modern composers and the audience is invited to join in the singing of a number of traditional Christmas hymns. The Piedmont Chorale is composed of singers from the college and the northeast Georgia community under the direction of Wallace Hinson, with assistant conductor Micah Dingler. The Habersham Central High School Singers are directed by Bobby Ivey. Accompanists include organist James Mellichamp and pianists Joy Hayner and Bethany Fisher. The concert also will include brass performances by Brad Whitwell, Colin Jones, Sarah Bandfield, Patricia Jameson, and Saul Olvera-Rubio. Readers will include the Rev. Ashley Cook, Betsey Blakeslee, David Greene, Garen Simmons, Lores Hauck, Barbara Steinhaus-Jordan, Tim Lytle, Barbara Crosson, Stephen Whited and Curtis Bradford.
