Joyce Jones plans Piedmont organ concert (11-1-04) Internationally acclaimed musician Dr. Joyce Jones will perform in concert on the Sewell Pipe Organ at Piedmont College on Nov. 19. The 7:30 p.m. concert will be held in the Center for Worship and Music on the college campus in Demorest. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students. Piedmont students, faculty and staff are admitted free. Currently the Bowden Professor of Music and Organist in Residence at Baylor University, Jones is a known for her superb musicianship and phenomenal technique shown in concerts on grand organs around the world. She is a Fellow of the American Guild of Organists and the composers of numerous published works, including the organ method "King of Instruments." In 1997, she received the National Federation of Music Clubs' highest award, a National Citation, "in recognition and sincere appreciation of her unselfish devotion and dedicated service to music as a concert organist, inspiring teacher and composer." For her Piedmont concert, Jones will perform works by Sigfrid Karg-Elert; Johann Sebastian Bach, including the Toccata in F Major; Cesar Franck; Jean Langlais; and Marcel Dupre. -30- |
