Piedmont's Cave Memorial Golf Tournament is April 13 Area golfers will tee off on Friday, April 13, for Piedmont College's annual Coach Cave Memorial Golf Tournament at the Sandy Creek Golf Club near Commerce. The tournament is named for the late Leon O'Neal Cave, who served as a coach and athletic director at Piedmont from 1948 to 1983. All proceeds will benefit the Cave Athletic Endowment and the Piedmont athletic program. Registration and a putting contest will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. Lunch will be provided at 11 a.m., and the tournament's shotgun start is at 11:30 a.m. The 18-hole, four-person Lauderdale tournament will be scored as a nine-hole blind draw. There will be cash prizes of $500 for the first-place net and gross teams and $300 in merchandise for the second place net and gross teams. Golfers will also have a chance to win more than $2,000 in additional prizes, as well as a Buick Lucerne courtesy of Hayes Buick, Pontiac, GMC and Cadillac of Toccoa. The early bird entry fee is $75 per player if received by March 28. Late registration is $80 per person. Registration includes greens fee, cart, lunch, and a goody bag; and each golfer in the tournament will also receive an additional complimentary round of golf. Mulligans will sell for two for $10, and players and businesses can also sponsor a hole for $150.
