The Piedmont College Alumni Association invites all area alumni and friends of the college to take part in Alumni Weekend activities April 8-10. "Share the Good Times" is the theme for the weekend of fun that will be highlighted by the Piedmont Chorale and Orchestra performances of Beethoven's "Ninth Symphony" and the dedication of the new Loudermilk baseball field. Activities get under way at 10 a.m., April 8, with the annual Coach Cave Memorial Golf Tournament at Sandy Creek Golf Club. At 6:30 p.m., everyone is invited for the dedication of Loudermilk Field, Piedmont's newest athletic facility. Designed to reflect the golden age of baseball, the 1940s-style brick ballpark includes covered stadium seating and bleachers. Keep your seats after the dedication as the Piedmont Lions baseball team takes on nationally ranked Emory University for the best in NCAA Division III hardball at 7 p.m. At 7:30 p.m., Dr. Wallace Hinson will conduct the 100-voice Piedmont Chorale and Northeast Georgia Orchestra as they present Beethoven's "Ninth Symphony" and "Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage." Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Piedmont students, faculty and staff are admitted free. The concert will be repeated at 7:30 p.m., Saturday. Call (706) 778-8500 extension 1356 for advance ticket reservations. On Saturday, the Torch Club will hold a 9 a.m. breakfast in the Lakeside Dining Room of Nielsen Hall. Torch members may make reservations by e-mail to jmccullers@rockdale.k12.ga.us. Also at 9 a.m., the PC Letter Club will meet in the upstairs Nielsen Dining Hall. Open to alumni and friends, the $6 breakfast will include inductions for the 2005 Sports Hall of Fame. The Alumni Association will hold its annual meeting at 11 a.m. in the Stewart Hall auditorium to conduct business, followed by a luncheon at 12:30 pm. that will include presentation of the association's Distinguished Alumni, Alumni Service, Pacesetters, and Excellence in Education awards. At noon in the library, Alexandra Robbins and Abby Wilner, authors of "Quarterlife Crisis: The Unique Challenges of Life in Your Twenties" will be the guest speakers for a half-day workshop on topics near and dear to recent college graduates. They'll discuss job opportunities and transitions, loan consolidation, and economic issues such as renting versus buying a home. The cost is $4 per person, and participants are asked to complete a survey at www.quarterlifecrisis.com/Piedmont before attending the workshop. Also on Saturday, everyone is invited to converge on Nielsen Hall at 2:30 p.m. for tours of the campus, including the newly renovated "old gym," which is now the Lane Student Center and the Loudermilk baseball complex. The Friends of the Fifties will celebrate good times past, present and future at the Presidents Home at 4 p.m; and a Young Alumni Social will begin at El Campesino restaurant in Cornelia at 4:30 p.m., with free food for alumni from the classes of 1994-05. The Piedmont Chorale will present its second performance of Beethoven's "Ninth Symphony" at 7:30 p.m. (See above for details.) Alumni Weekend 2005 will conclude April 9 with a Sunday Service at Covenant Congregational Church in the Center for Worship and Music.
