Irish actor, writer and radio personality Neil O'Shea will bring his one-man show "The Irish Writers Entertain" to Piedmont College at 5 p.m., March 29, in Jenkins Theatre. Admission is free. O'Shea attended the Abbey Theatre School of Acting. He has appeared in many of Dublin's theatres including the Abbey, the Peacock, the Project, the Focus and Andrew's Lane Studio where he played Oscar Wilde in the Irish Actors Theatre Company's "Life and Times of Oscar Wilde." He has toured extensively in Europe and the U.S. with the Irish Actors Theatre Company, and did a 15 city U.S. tour for the Irish American Cultural Institute in 1999. He has also worked in radio and on television where his most recent work was writing and appearing in humorous sketches on late night TV. He presents programs on Dublin's local radio station. For the last two summers he has performed "The Irish Writers Entertain" in the Dublin Writers' Museum. Most recently he devised and led "A Walk on the Wilde Side," a walk around part of Dublin associated with Wilde, Yeats and other writers. His program at Piedmont will include readings from Oliver Goldsmith, Jonathan Swift, Oscar Wilde, William Butler Yeats, Flann O'Brien, James Joyce, Percy French, George Bernard Shaw and Seamus Heaney. -30- |
