(Jan. 16, 2007) Organist Joy Andre Hayner will present works by Bach, Brahms, Messiaen, and Peeters at Piedmont College. The free concert will be held at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 10, in the Center for Worship and Music at the campus in Demorest.

Hayner, an assistant professor of music at Piedmont, will perform J.S. Bach’s "Fantasie and Fugue in G minor," Brahms’ chorale prelude from “O Sacred Head Now Wounded," and "The Ascension Suite" by Olivier Messiaen.  Dr. Phillip Hayner, professor of music at Piedmont, will assist Mrs. Hayner on the "Concerto for Organ and Piano" by Flor Peeters.

In addition to teaching at Piedmont, Mrs. Hayner is organist at Covenant Congregational Church in Demorest.  Originally from Orlando, Fla., she holds degrees from Bob Jones University (BA) and the University of Georgia (MM), where she studied with Anne Morton (piano performance) and Egbert Ennulat (organ performance) respectively.  She has won awards in various state competitions and has performed both as a soloist and accompanist.
