Ibis Camerata of Miami to perform here Feb. 28 (2-20-06) The Ibis Camerata, a chamber ensemble from the University of Miami's Frost School of Music, will perform a free concert at 7:30 p.m., Feb. 28, at Piedmont College in the Center For Worship and Music in Demorest. The ensemble is made up of four of the school's most talented doctoral students who come from varied cultural and musical backgrounds. Since forming in 2001, the group has garnered much attention with audiences and critics in their home base of Miami, Fla., and around the world. They have performed for audiences in the U.S., Canada, Serbia, Italy, Switzerland, and in St. Petersburg, Russia, during the world renowned "White Nights Festival." Members of the group include Biljana Milovanović, of Belgrade, Serbia, on piano; Domagoj Ivanović of Zagreb, Croatia, on violin; Marie-Elaine Gagnon of Chicoutimi, Canada, on cello; and Christopher Graham, of Boston, Mass., on clarinet. The four musicians offer audiences an original and unique listening experience. Performing the trio repertoire with both clarinet and violin, as well as the full quartet, the Ibis Camerata offers a broad range of music from Mozart and Beethoven to Mendelssohn, Brahms, Khachaturian, Hindemith, and Messiaen as well as contemporary composers. -30- |
