Notre-Dame organist Latry to perform concert at Piedmont

'Rumors' continues Sept. 27-Oct. 2

Piedmont waives expenses for evacuee students
(9-7-05) College students who have had to flee hurricane Katrina in the Gulf states may soon be picking up their studies at Piedmont College in northeast Georgia. Piedmont President Ray Cleere said the college currently has room for 30-40 additional students and will waive tuition, room and board during the fall semester for students displaced by the storm. Chapman presents 'An Evening with Chopin' Sept. 15
(8-30-05) From the "Fantasie Impromptu" to the "Military Polonaise," concert pianist Dr. Joe Chapman will perform time-honored favorites celebrating the life and music of Frédéric Chopin at 7:30 p.m., Sept. 15, in the Piedmont College Center for Worship and Music in Demorest. The program will feature two of Chopin’s most virtuosic études, the "Revolutionary" and the "Winter Wind," and conclude with the monumental "Andante Spianato" and "Grande Polonaise Brillante." Charles Cooper Earns 1,000th Career Basketball Coaching Victory
(1-30-05) Piedmont College head women's basketball coach Charles Cooper reached a basketball coaching milestone this afternoon when his Lady Lions posted a 79-66 Great South Athletic Conference victory over visiting Maryville College in PC's Johnny Mize Athletic Center.  The win was Cooper's 1,000th career victory as a basketball coach with his successful career spanning both the high school and collegiate levels. Duncan plans to travel after 29 years of teaching
(1/10/04) Clarence Duncan received a rocking chair when he retired from Piedmont College, but after 29 years of teaching, the former accounting professor says he plans to do more rolling than rocking. Duncan and his wife, Joyce, who also is retired from teaching nursing at North Georgia Technical College, will be putting miles on their camper and doing lots of fishing following his last official day at the college on Dec. 31. Nursing school gains national accreditation

It's no argument – new Piedmont debate team on a roll
(12/1/03) Imagine that Piedmont College has a football team. Now imagine that they travel to Athens and beat the UGA junior varsity team—five times. That's sort of what happened in the even more competitive arena of intercollegiate debate, where a rookie team from Piedmont has knocked off teams from Emory University, Florida State, the University of Louisville, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham in their first weeks of competition. Madame Chiang Kai-Shek dies at age 106
(10/24/03) Madame Chiang Kai-Shek, 106, formerly of Demorest, died Oct. 23 at her home in New York City. Madame Chiang attended the Piedmont Academy in 1910. (More)
