I began graduate studies in mathematics at the University of Kentucky in the Fall of 2004, earned my Masterís in the Spring of 2006, and my PhD in the Spring of 2010. I was profiled on the UK Math Departmentís Graduate Student Spotlight here.

I earned my Bachelorís of Science in mathematics at University of Virginia - Wise with minors in physics and philosophy in the Spring of 2004.

Before finishing my undergraduate degree, I, along with my wife, worked as American Sign Language interpreters in school systems in Virginia and freelance interpreted in Pensacola and Panama City, Florida. Before doing that, I was employed in various and sundry jobs including marina attendant and census taker.

In the copious free time that I have, Iím playing the piano, guitar, or dulcimer, or else I'm reading. I like to read and discuss philosophy and/or religion, and I really enjoy speculative fiction.

My wife, Kelly, is a licensed massage therapist. After 14 years of marriage, we celebrated the birth of our first child, Chloe Isabella Roberts on June 4, 2012.

This, therefore, is Mathematics:
She reminds you of the invisible forms of the soul;
she gives life to her own discoveries;
she awakens the mind and purifies the intellect;
she brings to light our intrinsic ideas;
she abolishes oblivion and ignorance which are ours by birth ...
